Beer styles I’d like to get to know better…

Russian River’s Pliney The Elder Beer Review

Episode #17-The Brew Review TV panel reviews Pliney The Elder. Russian River Brewing Co. Santa Rosa, CA. 8% ABV.

I’ve been actively engaged in craft beer for about three years now, and while I know enough hold a conversation or make suggestions about beer, there are some styles I haven’t touched yet. I’m not a huge fan of dark, malty beers, so I’ve avoided them, but I feel like I should get to know them regardless. So, the styles I’d like to get to know… Stouts – I’ve had Guinness, and some random others like Rouge’s chocolate and Left Hand Milk. Can’t remember much about either, other than them being pretty tasty. Porters – I love Berkshire Brewery’s Coffeehaus Porter (may only be available in New England), but haven’t given much thought to any others. Barleywines – No idea what this style is about, wouldn’t mind trying a few. Pilsners – After having Radeberger and Victory Prima Pils I fell in love with them, but haven’t really found any quite like them. I love ‘em dry, crisp and hoppy. Tried Lagunitas Czech Pils and really didn’t like it, couldn’t put my finger on it exactly. Lagers – Like Pilsners, I feel like the macrobrew industry has really pissed all over this style. Haven’t had Sam’s Boston Lager in a while, and I’m willing to try a few others. Black_____ – What is with all the black stuff these days? Black lager, black IPA. They’re everywhere. Steam Beer – Can’t seem to find anything but Anchor’s, which is delicious. Managed to find a delicious recipe and brewed it, I’d like to find a couple more. Irish Red OR Red Ale – Had Saranac’s Irish Red, and though they’re not the greatest brewery I thought it was particularly delicious. My local store has a HUGE selection of beer, they’ve got nearly everything you could think of, so it’s likely they’ll have any suggestions you guys have. EDIT: I’m located in Boston, for those that know the area, Blanchard’s is were I usually go to get my beer. submitted by SirBrittanicvs [link] [7 comments]

Beerit, I need a suggestion

Hey Beerit–I’m looking for a suggestion for a good beer that fits my preferences. I’m not a huge fan of the bitter aftertaste most beers have (I’ve been told this is the hops). I’ve tried Blue Moon, Sam Adams Winter Lager, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, Dos Equis, and Guinness. Guinness was my favorite out of the bunch (perhaps because of it’s frequent use in Irish Car Bombs) and I guess you could say I’m looking for a beer on the sweeter side. That being said, any suggestions? submitted by Abyssus [link] [18 comments]

Whats the difference between Regular Brewage, Malt Liquor and Hoarfrost Brewage?

The Brew Anthem

Winners of a UW-Madison Gift Competition, Bob and Justin sing “The Brew Anthem” A Colorful Toga Production ©2010

Qst about beer from Danno Treble:
Whats the difference between Regular Beer, Malted Liquor and Ice Beer?

The FIGURE 1 answer:
Is malt liquor higher in inebriant content than it is in ice beer? I would assume that regular brew is at 3.2 percent of alcohol or less.

Provide your personal answer to this question below!
