Great News – Chateau Léoube

I’m delighted to say that we shall be adding Chateau Léoube’s two fine Rosé wines to our range very soon.  We are simply waiting for the 2010 vintage to come in whereupon it will be immediately added to our list.
Chateau Léoube is beautifully situated on the Mediterranean coast at Bormes-les-Mimosas and has all the benefits of the maritime climate and coastal breezes which contribute so much to the good health of the vines. These are ideal conditions, for Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon which allow the wine maker immense scope to perfect his art.  The resulting pale Rosés are outstanding.
One of the highlights of my visit to the Vinisud wine exhibition in Montpellier last year was trying the “Le Secret de Léoube” Rosé.  The blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon, a master touch, which adds to the fullness and flavour of this marvellous wine.
Chateau Léoube’s wines are a perfect example of top quality Rosés. As you can imagine, we are looking forward to stocking them and I certainly recommend that you give them a try!

What Are Climbing Roses?

What Are Climbing Roses?French Rose Wine(Spain)

Climbing roses are a diverse group of roses that contain quite old and very new varieties. They are called climbing because of their growth and behaviour. The rose canes can grow very tall and bend and cable easily, so the roses can be inured. This grants the plants to grow over trellises, fences, and sometimes even roofs and can discover an impressive flowery show.

European Journal | France: Vinters fight for their rosé

The Var region in the South of France is famous for its wine. It’s home to rosé,the pink-coloured wine made by employing a special technique. 85 percent of French rosé comes from here and it’s considered excellent. That’s why local vintners are outraged by EU plans to let producers make rosé by mixing red and white, but these plans have now been withdrawn, after furious vintner protests.

1985/86 wurden hier viele Innenaufnahmen die Romanverfilmung von Umberto Ecos “Der Name der Rose” mit Sean Connery gedreht. www.kloster-eberbach.de Eberbach – Impressions from a Cistercian abbey (Monasteries in Germany, 3) The Eberbach abbey, an ancient Cistercian monastery, was founded by Bernard de Clairvaux in 1136 and is one of the most important architectural monuments from the Romanesque / early Gothic period in Hesse. Economically very important because of the viniculture, it deviated more and more from the ideals of its founder. After the secularization it became a prison and a lunatic asylum. Today it is a vinicultural state demesne of Hesse, a foundation is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings. In the abbey church, concerts take place.
